Went to my friends’ in the countryside, it’s gorgeous out there. We stayed up all night and watched the sun rise at about 5.30 am. Loved it!
summer
35°
Hey people!!
What’s up?
Currently dying in the heat down here, missing Danmark’s cool summer breezes terribly! It’s been super hot the last couple of days, followed by stormy weather (thunder and lightning) during the night. Luckily I have vacation at the moment, we’ll first be going back to school in a week and a half.
So I’m just soaking up as much sun as i can, without getting burnt (which is a minimal amount, actually … ) and trying to stay hydrated and read stuff in German. Missing people who are not here with me … can’t wait to see you again! ♥
20 C° in march!?
Guys, guys it’s so warm here!!! I mean, this is summer in Denmark!
I might be one of the few walking around in shorts and a t-shirt already, loads are still wearing their winter coats, but i feel like it’s getting hot! How am i ever going to survive summer?!??
Anyway, have fun in the rain up north! Haha, love you!

Sunny sunshine ▲▼▶
Hey guuuuys
Hope you’re all well! Just sitting in the backyard chillin’ with Max the cat and doing homework ♥ I’m loving the weather at the moment, it’s the warmest March in Bavaria ever! (It literally is, I’m not just saying so!)
When i came home the back door was open so i went outside and what do i see? My host sister, sleeping on the garden bench in the sun, curled up in a blanket like a lil’ german burrito! :’) Sweet.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi! I’ll update soon, did a lot of interesting things this past week, like going to the opera (!!!) and more! Stay tuned!
Love,
Bianca in sunny Germany 🙂
London, Baby!
My friend and I took a quick trip to London. That’s right – Powershopping! (Although I was actually the one shopping the most. I do feel very bad for dragging her around all those shops. Okay, maybe only a little bad.)
It was my first trip to a foreign country without parental supervision, which made it that much more exciting, but at the same time also very stressful. London is sooo busy!
Anyway, thanks for a fantastic, fun and memorable trip! We’ve been dreaming about it for ages, I’m so glad we got to go! xx
Again, thanks so much! I had a great time… And I spent way too much money… Sorry daddy! 😉
Hope you guys had a great summer as well !
Gonna miss you, slurp-monster ♥
Tourists in Copenhagen ✔
For my birthday, my best friends decided we’d do something fun – “Hey, let’s pretend we are tourists and see all the sights in our gorgeous hometown Copenhagen while acting really weird!”.
It was an AWESOME idea. We met for breakfast, (I made pancakes . This is the true reason as to why they love me so much) where after we headed down to Strøget, the main shopping street in central Copenhagen. The weather wasn’t with us (this is one of the only downsides to Denmark, dear tourists!), but that’s okay cause we have TIGER! We bought some awesome umbrella-hats and brightly colored rain coats, decided to park our bikes and just wander around on foot.
This is one of the main reasons Copenhagen is so great – almost everything is withing walking distance, and if not, you can just hop on your bike!
In the beginning we were a bit shy, since we realized we’d actually have to speak english with each other to pull this whole act off, which was really weird since we NEVER speak english for real, and our (or, should I say, their) accents were a bit indian for some reason …
First stop, Our Lady Church (Vor Frue Kirke), where the Crown Prince was married.
We really wanted someone to take a picture for us, and found some random guys walking along the road. The girls said I absolutely had to ask, since my accent was the most authentic. (We didn’t really know where we came from, but apparently, it was more believeable if I asked … -.-). So I did, and they were very happy to help. They thought it was funny, clearly, and we thought it was embarassing, so we tried to keep a straight face and they triede to keep a straight face, and we were really just standing there, in front of the Niels Bohr institute laughing at each other. Weird.
We continued and visisted the Round Tower, walked down past Nørreport to The Kings Garden and Rosenborg Castle. We kept on asking for pictures, and still felt embarrased, but when we entered The Kings Garden something changed. Well. We did, cause we decided to try on out fabulous raincoats and umbrella hats.
It was the most hilarious thing ever. And the best thing was, we looked so freakishly werid, we no longer felt embarrased. It was super fun.
We walked past the State Museum for Art, and all the way down to Langelinje and The Famous Little Mermaid Statue. Even the Asian tourists thought we looked funny. Must be weird not being the ones wearing the most ridiculous outfits anymore, eh? 😉
In the sea of toned down, descreet and classy colored clothed people, we really stood out with our bright pink, orange, green and blue plastic coats. The weather forecast had yet again been wrong (why do we even listen to them any more?), and we were dying under all the layers.
But this had been the ultimate goal: Getting a picture with H.C. Andersens world famous statue, The Little Mermaid. I asked a random guy with a huge camera (he looked professional), to take a picture for us with our cell phone. He agreed, but on one condition: That he could snap a pic of us with his own camera as well. It was kinda unexpected, but then again, so were we, so I agreed.
We posed, and out of the corner of my eye, I could see people descreetly pointing their cameras towards us instead of The Little Mermaid! We were bound to become internet-famous! These people were from all over the world, who knows which fotoalbums these pictures would end in!! That was why, after saying thank you to the nice man, I asked him where he was from. “Germany.” He replied. “And you?”
I stood frozen for what felt like several minutes, but my friends were quick to save me.
“Eh… We’re… we’re from Finland! Ja!”
He looked at us and laughed and we just looked at each other and ran away as fast as we could.
“Finland?!?!”
It really was a fun day.
It just got too hot to bare, so we shedded the raincoats and flashed some skin. Kinda. Walked past St. Albans church, and all the way to Amalienborg, The Royal Castle. We tried to take a picture with one of the Guards, but he kept on marching away from us, and we didn’t dare go too close, cause they’re allowed to shoot.
After a break at Baresso we boarded the Canal Boat (Kanalrundfart) and had a guided tour. Saw the Opera House and the world famous restaurant Noma. Waved at some new tourists by the Little Mermaid. Waved at random danish people while sailing the inner city. Fun fun.
All in all a pretty awesome and very memorable day!
Do something crazy! It’s summer!

A celebration with trout
Hello out there! How’s everyone?!
I’m great anyway, just officially finish 10 years worth of school, the graduation ceremony was last night, and it was actually pretty moving (except the part where the leader of the board of administrators held a speach, and it was kind of awkward cause he didn’t know us AT ALL. I don’t get why he was the one speaking. I’d much rather done it myself. At least that would have been personal…)
Anyway, even though I officially graduated yesterday, our final exams were already over a couple of weeks ago, so I made a delish (of course) celebrational dinner to surprise my parents, and also because I was very proud of myself for getting a B in oral physics. I know, I know, it’s not an A, but whatever, SUMMER VACATION IS HERE AND B IS STILL PRETTY GOOD!
When I’m happy I can also be very spontaneous, and so when I went shopping for some steak or other to throw on the grill, I stumble upon some trout that were for sale, and bought them. I had no clue how to prepare trout as I’ve never really cooked food besides pasta and the occasional cup noodle, but still high of my vitory in physics, I felt I could do anything. (And hey, I can MAKE licorice powder in a lab out of … Fluid stuff… How hard could simply seasoning a fish be?!)
Also, if you don’t know how to grill, here’s a tip.
Turns out, it IS actually really easy, and it tastes awesome!
So here it goes:
(A recipe enough for 4 people, approx.)
2 Trouts
1 fresh, organic lemon
Coriander, Parsley, Chives, Basil (Basically whatever you have in your garden) as perferred (I used about a fistful of each)
Salt & pepper
- Rinse the trouts (mine had already been cleaned inside, but if they haven’t been, do so). If you want to be able to eat the skin, you should scrape off the scales. Pat them dry with a couple of paper towels or a dishcloth.
- Cut up the herbs roughly and slice the lemon into 6-8 slices. Remove the seeds.
3. Spread the insides of the trouts with salt and pepper. Place 3-4 slices inside. Add herbs on top of the lemons, and “close” the fish as much is possible.
4. Coat the outside of the trouts with oil and sprinkle a bit of salt over them.
5. Place on the now warm grill. Let them sit for about 4 min. and then flip them over (careful with the stuffing, some of it might be lost to the coals… )
6. Remove from grill when they are golden on both sides, and serve with a sqeeze of lemon on top. Voilá !
Serve this with deliscious sides of salad, new danish potatoes (or just potatoes) and perhaps grilled eggplant and tomatoes with mozerella?
Also got some simple chicken steaks for my dad, cause he isn’t the big fan of fish besides canned tuna and the occasional salmon filét.
All in all I was pretty satisfied with my final menu. It was deliscious and summery and perfect for a nice evening with my family.
Have a great Thursday!

How to: Start a grill
So this post may not be very fancy, and most probably very obvious to nearly all people (men – yeah, I’m sorry ladies, but let’s face it… ), but since I didn’t know how to do this before this week, I thought I would share it with you people 🙂
Okay! Well. For starters, you’re gonna need a grill and some coal. Perferrably also a “grill starter” which should look something like this:
Which, basically, is a round-ish, metal pot with a handle that’s SUPPOSED to be warmth resistant or something, but it’s not, so use a glove.
My dad also uses some alcohol of a sort, but I don’t like that, so I use old dryer lint and a lighter to get the coals burning.
1. Place the grill starter on/in your grill.
As you can see I don’t own a fancy Weber or anything, but this non-expensive version works just fine for it’s purpose.
2. Pour coals into the grill starter untill it’s more than half full, but not all the way.
3. Put a wad of dryer lint, or other flammable material into the grill starter. Light it on fire. (As I said, my father pours alcohol on the coals and lights that on fire, but I read somewhere that in the warm weather it creates dangerous gasses and so on … I just like the dryer lint version better, it’s more fun 🙂 )
3. Let the coals burn in the grill starter for approx. 20-30 minutes until all the coals are glowing white.
4. While the coals are getting hot, this would be the optimal time to both prepare your meats, but also to scrub the grill rack good and clean. We don’t want ucky old chuncks of meat on our new meat. Or maybe you’re the kind of person who cleans up their grill rack once they’re done using it, in which case good for you, you’re smarter than me (and my dad… ) 😉
5. (This is where the glove comes in handy) Grab the grill starter and pour the white coals into the bottom of the grill. Spread them evenly with a metal poker of some sort. Place the rack above the coals, and you’re good to go.
Congrats! You now know how to start a grill!
Now, you just have to learn how to cook. (Good luck mate!)

Taste of lemon
As always, the weather here in Denmark likes to change. One day it’s 30 degrees, the next it’s pouring down and you may even have to pull on a sweater. Slightly irritating at times, but we just have to make the best of it.
That’s why, when the rain was falling like a wall of water yesterday, I sat in my bed, surfing around on pinterest looking at cute, summery pictures, and I couldn’t help but repin all those delish pictures of various drinks and foods.
I soooo wanted to make some of them, but I’m the kind of person whose mood changes with the weather, and looking out at the grey skies, I didn’t really feel like moving… So I just kept on repinning.
But today the sun was high when I woke (both because it was already late morning, but also because the weather had cleared up again), and automatically I felt inspired to do something.
So, grabbed some of my (dads) money (haha), and flitted of to the store to get some ingredients. I’d recently found an old, worn book in our basement (I would have said attic, because it sounds that much cooler and more mysterious, but sadly we don’t have an attic).
It was an old book dating about 1912 (yes people, the year Titanic sank… And Leo died 😥 Oh… ). I love old stuff, or old cool mysterious books at least, and after discovering that it was an old “handy man book” with all sorts of tips and tricks in it, I was very eager to try some of them 🙂
A section entitled “Beverages” (love that word) seemed to suit my “needs” pretty well, and so, inspired by pinterest as well, I bought stuff to make lemonade with. 🙂 Lemonade!!
I used to drink it at parties when I was a kid, but I’ve never tried making it before. I love things that remind me of Anne of Green Gables or Laura Ingalls, and this lemonde-thing was perfect! Also, the weather was totally killing me, so a refreshing glass of sweet lemonade was just the thing!
Here’s the recipe:
(For a pitcher-full, about 1 Liter)
- 4 large, fresh lemons (organic would be the best)
- 1 cup of sugar (around 15 tb.s. of sugar)
- 1 cup of hot water
- 2 cups of water + loads of ice
- 1 sliced up lemon, for decoration and extra taste
Start by washing all the lemons and massage them whilst rolling them on a table. (Basically pre-squishing them). Slice on of them in medium thick slices and save for later. Cut the rest of the lemons in half and squeeze out the juice in a seperate bowl / pitcher. Remove the seeds.
Pour sugar in a bowl and add the hot water. Stir until melted. Pour the sugar water into the lemon juice and stir. Add the sliced up lemon and the ice, and mix the whole thing together with the extra 2 cups of water. If the lemonade is too sweet for your liking, simply add more water. If it is tasteless (which it won’t be, trust me, this stuff is super sweet), you can always add more sugar, and stir until dissolved.
To give the lemonade extra taste you can add some mint leaves.
Serve and enjoy chilled.
(according to the book, it is also good against colds, or if you are sick, by swithcing out the ice-water with boiling water, and drinking it warm. Dunno. Might give it a try sometime.)
Remember to stay hydrated in the warm weather! It’s recommended to drink at least 2 liters pr. day! So keep drinking! (This may not be the best thing to drink loads of on a hot day, as there’s a lot of sugar in this, but whatever. It’s delish.)
Enjoy!

Birthdaaaay xx
Hey people!
So today is my birthday!! Sweet sixteen and all 🙂 Sorry I haven’t written for a while, I had big plans for some pretty cute posts, but sadly my bag was stolen on the way home from work, and both my phone and camera were in it, so a great deal of pictures were lost 😥 I’m actually really sad about it, especially because the phone, my beloved Samsung Galaxy 3s, was both my birthday and christmas present, and now I most probably have to pay for it myself if I want a new one … 😦
Anyway, the picture above was my outfit yesterday, because it was sunny. It was also the day of my english exam where i got an A. (Proud 🙂 )
Anyway, both my sister and my parents weren’t home today, so I was home all alone, studying for my Physics exam and enjoying the weather … Or not …. Guess I’ve been terrible this year… (It’s a danish thing …)
My little sister gave me some earrings that match a ring I got earlier this past year. 🙂
Besides “studying hard” for my exams, I’ve been cleaning up in my room and trying to finish some projects… Hm…
Tomorrow’s gonna be one big celebration, were my friends will be trying to make up for the lack of festivities today… I should probably go to bed now, as this weekend is going to be full of fun activites … And then the exam starting monday … My life is so fantastic … No, really it actually is 😀 I’m just glad I’m okay and that I still have my computer and internet 😉 Haha.
Let me finish off with some pics from our dinner + the very, very grand strawberry tart thing… Grand, I tell you!
Goodbye!! Can’t believe I’ll be seventeen when I get back from Germany!!! It seems like such a big number! Hopefully I’ll be fluent in german this time next year… It’s incredible, time goes by so fast … Oh, now I sound old … Better go!
Love, Bianca xx’Also, my mascara was stolen … I NEED to get a new one, asap. Friends, if you’re reading this, I’d very much like one! 😀 haha xx
Gaah, inspire me!
Sitting outside, enjoying some food and the awesome weather, waiting for inspiration to strike. I really want to write some more this summer, and this time it has to be brilliant. Maybe my hopes are to high… And it’s kinda scary, beginning something that may determine the rest of your life… But like they say, if your dreams doesn’t scare you, they’re not big enough.
So dream BIG, people!

Summah-timeeee ;-)
BELLASKY ♥
Since today is Denmarks Constitution Day, my parents had a day off work, and right now I don’t have to go to school, as I’m reading up for my final exams, so we all took a little family trip out to BellaSky.
BellaSky is a hotel located close to the airport, and it’s really special in the way it’s designed (as is with most danish buildings, which are famous for their architectual details). I think it’s the most crooked hotel in all of the nordic countries (don’t quite know if that’s the right term…)
We biked all the way there, and it was really lovely, the weather was great and everything. The restaurant we were going to eat in is located on the top floor (the 23rd floor), and the view from up there was great! (I guess it’s partially because Denmark is so super flat … )
The food was … good, I guess. The quality was great, but the servings were … sparse… But then again, quality over quantity, I guess?
It was nice to have a family day, anyway. We don’t have many of those, the whole family doing something together, because we’re all so busy. And if we’re not busy, we’re too exhausted to do anything. Time / Money / Energy, pick two, that’s life, as my dad says. 😉
Hope you guys had a nice day as well!
Love B xx
This was supposed to be a cute post …
So today i saw a load of postmen, and I thought it would be really nice to write a cute little post about the fairytale land of Denmark, and how the sun was shining and we all still write letters to each other. I mean, look at this picture, how cute is that? Four postmen in a row, all signalling like proper danish cyclists, headed towards the post office.
But, ladies and gentlemen, exactly because of this picture, (and a great deal of stupidity from my side, I should add), I had a big crash on my bike. It wasn’t pretty, folks. Not at all.
I was biking home from school, the sun was shining (the weather was extremely nice today!!) and I was just enjoying my freedom, when I noticed these four people biking in a neat line in front of me.
I whipped out my phone as soon as we stopped by the light, and snapped a few pictures. As the light turned green, I thought: Why not take a couple more in action?
So, I did.
I normally credit myself to be one of the greater, undiscovered cyclers in Denmark. I’m so pro, the pro team couldn’t handle me. I don’t even wear a helmet, I’m just that pro. (Kids, don’t learn from me. I’m a horrible, stupid person.)
So, I biked along, happily snapping away, and the postmen took a right turn, and I thought: Ohmergerd this is so cuteee and perfect for a blog post, ohmergerd look they’re all turning ohmergerd!! ohmer …. OH MY GOD I HAVE TO TURN TOO!!
See, the thing about bikes with big boxes attached to their sides, is that they’re kinda like trucks; the back end swings much further out than one would assume. So, as I was focussed on my phone, I realized too late that I’d have to swing around the postman, but at the same time people behind me were trying to get ahead of me, and so I was going really fast and I couldn’t turn or break because of the phone in my hand so… I hit the corner of the box-clad bike and well… I did a sideways somersault onto the ground, my bike landing on to of me, and as I lay there on the ground, the only thing i noticed was:
Oh my god, I’m still holding my phone! LET IT GO NOW, you don’t wanna get caught in the act!
And so I just opened my hand and let it drop, a second before people started helping me up and handing me my open bag, belongings scattered all over the bike path, someone even handed me my phone saying: Don’t worry, it’s not broken!
My bike was totally upside down, standing on the baskets, and the postman, who turned out to be a woman, had gotten off her bike and was shaking slightly, sounding mad, but also really worried, going: Are you okay? Are you hurt? I mean, I signalled to turn, right? Didn’t you see it? Are you okay?
The only thing people asked me was: Are you okay? And I kept on nodding and saying yeah, cause I was really fine. The only thing I felt, was ashamed. I felt so bad about the whole thing, people were whispering about how violent it had looked, me flipping over and stuff, and the post-lady was shaking and oh … All because of how stupidly stupid I was.
Some people just have to be in danger before they learn their lesson. And I did. I mean, it’s really a miracle, I didn’t hurt myself at all (not really). I could have been put in the hospital! Like, it could have been serious!
They kept asking if I was all right, and I kept on feeling ashamed, continuesly saying “Sorry, oh I’m so sorry, yeah I’m totally fine, don’t worry, I’m so sorry!”
I think people were slightly confused about my apologies, and even after I’d gotten on my bike again, I felt like people knew that it was all my fault. I didn’t even notice I’d been hurt until i got home and took off my cardigan. My wrist and elbow had giant, long scrapes, and so did my shoulder. (It’s really weird, I can’t remember falling that clearly, my mind must have blocked it out or something. The only thing I remember is my phone and how someone gave it to me. Weird).
Anyway, the last part of the ride I felt like I was in a daze, not really registering what was going on around me (REALLY dangerous).
So to sum up: I’m stupid.
That’s really all for today. I’m going to work in a little bit, I’ll make sure to pay more attention in traffic, I promise!
Note to self: Don’t take pictures while biking. And lose the cardigan. It’s really to warm. And not in style.
Well then, have a nice day peeps!
– Love, B xx
